Select clothes that fit your body shape

body-shape

When you shop for new clothes, do you take your body shape into consideration? Too look fashionable does not mean to follow fashion trends blindly. The best option for your style is to pick clothes that fit your body shape in the best way.

Famous brands or celebrity styles do set the trends every season, but they may have disastrous effects on your body shape. The right fashion image is not something amazing on a standard mannequin but on your unique body shape. People tend to neglect the importance of choosing the right ensembles for their body shapes which really flatter their special personalities. To look best does not necessarily mean to spend big money or to be most trendy. Your style should be a label of your own identity, or simply a confidence booster for your body shape. So you should always select clothes that can define your best sides and build silhouettes getting you lots of compliments.

This article will focus on three typical body shapes: hourglass shape, apple shape and pear shape. Among all, hourglass shape is the most enviable body shape many girls or women are dreaming of. If you are born with hourglass shape, you are really lucky as that means you have the most options for different clothing styles and trends. Women in this shape can easily fit into various styles with their curvy figures and proportionate bodies and slim hips. If there is a body shape that can be “the one that fits all”, it must be hourglass shape! So my only advice on hourglass shaped women is: venture yourself into the numerous styles as many as you can!

Women belong to apple shape look heavier on top than bottom. Basically, they have bigger breasts, larger waists, narrower hips and slimmer legs. So the first consideration for choosing an outfit for these women should be figure proportion. The best way to balance this shape is to highlight the legs and the sexy cleavage. For these women, it is necessary to opt for clothes that can skim the body, but too-tight and puffy tops should be avoided. Comfort fit tops can work well on this body shape, but too-baggy tops may cause an even heavier look. A tunic with a nice fall can be a good choice in this regard. For the bottoms, choose flat-front pants with lower waist line. If you are a dress lover who has this body shape, A-line styles may adorn you to perfection. Also, to show off your slim legs, you can go for knee-length or shorter skirts.

Pear shape is kind of opposite to apple shape in terms of figure. Women in this shape have heavier bottom than top. They have a rounder shape, narrower shoulders and heavier hips. Also, pear shaped women should try best to balance the top-bottom disproportion. To draw more attention away from the bottom to the upper torso, one should wear dark colors for the bottom and light colors for the top. Also, look for styles with straight or vertical lines that help slim the round body. Any top that can call attention to face or the upper torso is an ideal choice, for example, V-necks and turtlenecks, cover-hip jackets, etc.

Of course, there are more other body shapes. You may not fit into any body type discussed above, however, no matter how your body shape looks, don’t fret about styling yourself just because you are not perfectly shaped. You only need to create a balanced proportion for your look by maximizing the positives and minimizing the negatives of your body shape. And more importantly, whenever you shop for your wardrobe, pick clothes that can best match your personality. Never get lost in the so-called brands and trends!

What is GSM

Global system for Mobile Communications (GSM) is by far the most popular type of cell phone network in the world. Its ubiquity makes international roaming very convenient between mobile phone operators.

GSM networks have more than 3 billion users from over 212 countries and territories. It’s estimated that 82% of the global mobile market uses the standard. Subscribers can use their phones in many parts of the world.

GSM is referred as a second generation (2G) mobile phone system.

Advantages of GSM

The ubiquity of GSM is an advantage to both users and network operators. Users have the ability to roam and switch carriers without switching phones while network operators can choose equipment from any of the many vendors implementing GSM. GSM also offers SMS (Short Message Service), which is now supported on other mobile standards as well. Another advantage is that GSM includes one worldwide Emergency telephone number—112. This makes it very convenience for international travelers to connect to emergency services without knowing the local emergency number.

Will this cell phone work in my country?

The frequencies of most GSM networks around the world are 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz and 1900MHz. To know whether your chosen phone can be used in your area, you simply need to find out the GSM frequencies supported under you current SIM Cards’ Cellular provider, and match it to the specification of your target cell phone.

Tops

Almost all mothers-to-be dream of looking trendy in pregnancy without sacrificing comfort. Now it’s possible. The tops that are cut to be form-fitting and show the contour of their abdomens are great for that. They make women look pregnant, but not pudgy. These days it’s acceptable to tastefully show off the rounded belly, and so showing the contour of the growing belly is more flattering than hiding the body in a baggy, oversized T-shirt. This type of trendy maternity clothes has won great popularity and is recommended to hot moms-to-be.

As far as good days go, today probably isn’t one for Claudia Schiffer – and if we woke up to find ourselves in the centre of a race row, it wouldn’t be one for us either. That, you see, is exactly what’s happened to the super this morning, after photos of her posing as a black woman have emerged.

The photos were taken two years ago by Karl Lagerfeld (you could’ve guessed, right?) for a Dom Perignon advertising campaign but have been bought back to fashion’s forefront by German fashion bible Stern Fotografie, who has used the image on the cover of its latest issue, to celebrate its 60th anniversary.

But we have a feeling that Claudia won’t be wishing the magazine a happy birthday, for she’s now being accused of ‘racial insensitivity’ because of the image, which sees her covered in dark foundation wearing an afro wig.

And Shevelle Rhule, fashion editor at black lifestyle magazine Pride, is one of those accusing.

“It shows poor taste and it’s offensive. There are not enough women of colour featured in mainstream magazines. This just suggests you can counteract the problem by using white models,” she told the Daily Mail. “I don’t believe they deliberately set out to offend, they obviously see it as being arty and feel that they are pushing boundaries. But clearly no thought has been given to the history behind what they have done and the comparisons it draws with minstrel shows.”

Claudia’s representatives have, however, been quick to come to the super’s defense this morning. “The pictures have been taken out of context,” said a spokesman. “The images were designed to reflect different men’s fantasies. The pictures were not intended to offend, they were done very creatively and they are some of Karl Lagerfeld’s favourite images of Claudia. People should not jump to conclusions.”

Ooer. This all sounds rather familiar to us… French Vogue’s Lara Stone controversy, anyone?

Those that love to be the first to find out about young design talent should get themselves down to London’s Earl’s Court this weekend for the 19th Graduate Fashion Week – it promises to be the biggest and best yet.

Celebrating the work of more than 1,000 of the best BA degree fashion students from universities across the globe, Graduate Fashion Week is the biggest platform for young design talent in the world – and this year’s showcase is intent on proving it.

“Graduate Fashion Week is the starting point for the future of British fashion. It is an event that has an impact on not just our home grown style, but that of the world,” says Terry Mansfield, chairman of GFW. “Our graduates go on to work in international design studios and will shape the future of fashion whether it is on the high street or the catwalk. This is the industry’s and the public’s chance to see them first and understand why supporting our British fashion education system is so important; we are delighted that River Island is, for the 6th year running, helping us to nurture this creative talent .”

And whilst previous years have been known to attract the cream of industry insiders – Giles Deacon, Matthew Williamson, Erin O’Connor and Elle editor in chief Lorraine Candy to name but a few – this year has a few extra surprises with campaign photography from world-renowned fashion photographer Rankin, and a special Inspiration Award which will acknowledge the contribution from an inspirational figure, be it from fashion, music, theatre or the arts.

Graduate Fashion Week runs between 6th -10th June at London’s Earl’s Court – we’ll see you there. Visit www.gfw.org.uk for more information.

While perusing some images from the latest photography installation at Colette in Paris (the work of Trujillo/Paumier and Nick Meek), I was blindsided by a mannequin wearing the most perfect dress I’ve seen in a while — a beautifully draped one-shoulder number in a divine shade of emerald green. I called the store immediately for more information in the hopes that the price was somewhere in the realm of my Amex limit. As it turns out the dress is by Hervé Leroux, who you may remember as Hervé Leger, the king of bandage. The bad news? 4,630 euros. If this weren’t enough to bring a tear to my covetous eye, I was immediately reminded of another dress I couldn’t afford, in my fashion fledgling days back in the early ’90s, modeled by a smoldering Karen Mulder on the Leger runway. I kept a photo of it pinned to the bulletin board of my cubicle for at least a year. To be sure, a lot has changed since my first Leger obsession, but what hasn’t changed is that the man still has a way with elastic. And a girl can still dream, right?

Little girls need little luxuries too, and in this interchangeable weather, they could do with a cute cardigan to keep the chill away.

This blue ruffled cardigan by Little Marc Jacobs is as cute as it is classic – team it with a white summer dress on windy days, keep it handy for nippy autumn evenings, and layer over long sleeved tees when the weather takes a turn for the worst.

The best part? Being navy, not only will it go with everything, it’ll also hide a multitude of spills – and she’ll love the playful ruffle detail on the front.
